Former Governor of Kano State and ex-National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has criticized the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, accusing it of reckless and wasteful spending on projects that, according to him, add no value to the state.

Ganduje made his remarks while speaking to journalists shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC in Kano. He expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of governance in the state and described Yusuf’s leadership as a government of bandits and confusion.
The former governor faulted Yusuf for focusing attention on probing his past administration instead of concentrating on delivering good governance. He explained that when he assumed office, he did not spend time investigating his predecessor because governance does not end with one administration.
Ganduje further argued that the current government has received more federal allocation within six months than his administration did in eight years, yet there has been little to show for it. He challenged the government to present its achievements despite the resources at its disposal.
He also accused the state government of lacking administrative capacity, saying it was struggling to understand the basics of governance. He compared the difference in approach to that between a permanent secretary and a messenger.
Concluding his remarks, Ganduje described the Yusuf administration as clumsy and confused, stressing that resources were being spent recklessly without accountability or tangible results for the people of Kano.
