Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has offered an explanation for his absence during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent condolence visit to Kano.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday visited the family of the late elder statesman and industrialist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata to offer his condolences and honour the legacy of a man he described as a pillar of generosity, humility, and national service.

In a statement issued by his former Chief of Staff, Malam Muhammad Garba, Ganduje’s absence was attributed to a pre-scheduled personal engagement in London that had been planned before his resignation from the party leadership. Garba noted that despite concerted efforts, Ganduje was unable to adjust his itinerary to return in time for the President’s visit.

While away, Ganduje reportedly remained in contact with top APC leaders in Kano, including Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin and the state APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, to ensure proper coordination and support for the presidential visit.

Ganduje’s team also reaffirmed that his recent resignation has no bearing on his longstanding and cordial relationship with President Tinubu. They emphasized that both men continue to share a common vision for Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
