Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has officially assumed a new role as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The development comes shortly after Ganduje stepped down as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing health-related concerns.

Ganduje was inaugurated alongside other board members, including the Managing Director of FAAN, Ms. Olubunmi Kuku; Ms. Dorothy Duruaka; Ahmed Ibrahim Suleiman; Engr. Nasiru Muazu; Omozojie Okoboh; Engr. T.P. Vembe; and Bridget Gold, who will serve as secretary to the board.

During the ceremony, the minister emphasized the importance of the board’s role in improving aviation infrastructure, promoting safety and security, and enhancing service delivery across Nigerian airports. He urged the board to operate in accordance with the FAAN Act and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Ganduje, in his response, assured that the board would focus on understanding its responsibilities, avoid overlapping with management duties, and maintain a clear boundary between oversight and execution. He stressed the need for collaboration with the ministry and FAAN management to achieve the agency’s goals.

FAAN Managing Director, Ms. Kuku, also pledged the support of the management team to ensure effective implementation of policies and seamless operations under the new board’s leadership.
