According to Kiyawa, the victim’s father received a call from an unknown individual the day after her disappearance, demanding a ransom of N3 million. “Following the development, a team of Anti-kidnapping Squad, led by SP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal, was raised to rescue the victim and apprehend the suspect,” Kiyawa explained.

After sustained efforts and intelligence-led operations, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Saifullahi Abba from Kofar Fada Quarters in Wudil LGA, was arrested on November 28, 2024, in Luran Village, Dawakin Kudu LGA. “The suspect has since confessed to the crime, including leading detectives to where the victim was being held hostage,” Kiyawa added.

The police successfully rescued the girl unhurt and took her to Murtala Muhammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, for a medical examination. She was subsequently discharged in good health.

Kiyawa assured that investigations are ongoing and stated, “The suspect will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.”
