According to Wakili, the victims were trying to dislodge pit pipes when they were trapped. They were pulled out unconscious and rushed to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead by doctors.

The deceased were identified as Shayibu Hamza, 48, Abdulmalik Yahya, 29, Jamilu Inusa, 29, and Ibrahim Musa, 42, all from Firo village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

Wakili said the police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, adding that the management of the facility is cooperating with the authorities.

He emphasized the need for strict adherence to safety measures in high-risk work environments, warning that failure to observe safety protocols can lead to loss of lives.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commiserated with the families of the victims and assured that the command would continue to push for better safety standards to protect workers.
