The blast occurred on Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. at Komala village when a Suzuki pick-up truck ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the roadside.
The Borno State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the injured victims have been taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, said, “Four persons died, and 10 sustained various degrees of injuries.”
The blast caused a major traffic jam along the route, with stranded commuters reporting long hours of delay due to the gridlock that followed.
This latest explosion marks another deadly attack on the Maiduguri-Damboa corridor, a route that has witnessed repeated violence. Just two months ago, a similar IED attack in the area killed eight and injured eleven.
Security forces have launched an investigation into the incident, which is suspected to be the work of Boko Haram insurgents.
