Mr Abubakar Gambo, the Managing Director of Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Kaduna, has advised youth to vote for credible leaders in 2023 to ensure a better future for the country.

Gambo, who gave the advise in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kaduna, also cautioned them against being used as political thugs by selfish politicians during elections.

“It is the duty of the youth to vote in credible leaders as they are the ones to benefit more; if you vote in bad leaders, you are the first to suffer from it,’’ he said.

According to him, the political elites are already protected, leaving majority of youth in the country to continue suffering in abject poverty.

“My call to the youth is that you should be watchful; do not be deceived by the little money that will be given to you to engage in thuggery and other criminal activities.

“Ensure that you have adequate political education, which is part of what we do at the foundation as advocacy for good governance,’’ Gambo said.

He said that if good leaders were voted into office the country would move forward, adding that everything depended on the youth, who constituted larger population of the electorate.

The managing director said that political education was key to check atrocities associated with politics in the country.

Gambo advised them to devise ways to engaging government to ensure delivery of vital services such as education, healthcare and infrastructure.(NAN)
