The Governor praised General Useni’s exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to public service. He noted that the late General made an indelible impact on Nigeria’s security and political landscape through his dedication to peace and security, particularly in Northern Nigeria and Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang recounted the illustrious career of the late General, highlighting his service to the nation as Minister of Transport, Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, and Minister of the FCT. After retiring from the military, General Useni transitioned into politics, serving as Deputy Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and later as Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.

The Governor commended General Useni’s life of selfless service, describing him as a compassionate, kind, and generous leader who made lasting contributions to the military, politics, and his community. “His legacy of dedication and commitment to the well-being of others will forever remain in the hearts of those he impacted,” Governor Mutfwang said.

On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang extended his condolences to the President, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the family of the deceased, and all Nigerians mourning the loss of this elder statesman. He prayed for strength and solace for the family and urged everyone to honor General Useni’s memory by upholding the values he stood for.
