Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, has passed away, according to reports on Tuesday. He reportedly died in a hospital in Saudi Arabia.

The Nigerian Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS) confirmed his death in a condolence message, describing the late jurist as a symbol of integrity, humility, and dedication to justice. The association said his passing marks a significant loss for both the Nigerian judiciary and the nation, noting that he upheld fairness, courage, and the rule of law throughout his career, leaving a lasting impact for generations to come.
NAMLAS further acknowledged Justice Muhammad’s role as a mentor and father figure to many Muslim law students nationwide. The association extended its condolences to his family, the judiciary, government, and Nigerians, praying for the repose of his soul.
Justice Muhammad dedicated decades to the Nigerian judiciary, ultimately serving as Chief Justice before his retirement, where he became widely respected for his contributions to the legal system.
