The donation was presented on Saturday during a visit by a special delegation sent by the First Lady to Kano State. Mrs. Tinubu was represented by Hajiya Laila Barau Jibril, wife of the Deputy Senate President, who led the delegation comprising members from the Office of the First Lady and other government officials.

On behalf of the First Lady, Hajiya Laila delivered a condolence message to the families of the deceased, the Kano State Government, and the people of the state at large. She expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the deceased as promising young talents whose efforts in representing Kano State will be remembered.

According to her, each bereaved family will receive N5 million as part of the support package aimed at easing their pain and showing solidarity.

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who received the delegation and the donation on behalf of the families, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Tinubu for her continuous humanitarian interventions in the state. He acknowledged her previous assistance to vulnerable women, noting that it reflects her deep concern for the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

The governor stated that the tragedy has deeply affected the state, but the support from the Federal Government and other well-meaning Nigerians is appreciated during this difficult time.

He also pledged that the Kano State Government will fully sponsor the education of the athletes’ children up to university level. In addition, the state government will continue to support the affected families and take necessary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of youth and athletes in the future.
