A fatal road accident involving a Federal Fire Service rescue truck claimed the lives of three people and left one person injured on Friday in Abuja.

The crash occurred at the ECOWAS junction in Wuse 2 when the fire truck, reportedly speeding with its sirens on, collided with a Toyota Camry. According to the Federal Fire Service, the vehicle was returning from a fire emergency at Avenue Plaza in Banex and was on its way to refill water when the accident happened.
In an official statement, the Service confirmed the tragic incident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. The vehicle involved was carrying four occupants at the time of the crash.
The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Engr. Jaji Abdulganiyu, visited the families affected and assured that the injured victim is receiving proper medical care.
Engr. Abdulganiyu stressed that the mission of the Fire Service is to preserve life and property, not endanger it. He urged the public to always yield to emergency vehicles to enable them respond swiftly and safely during emergencies.
The Fire Service also announced that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, and disciplinary measures will be taken if any personnel are found culpable.
