A midnight fire swept through a residential building in Offa, Kwara State‘s Offa local government area, causing destruction worth N6.5 million.

The incident occurred at Kowope compound in the Olorunkuse neighborhood around 1:05 am on Saturday.

It impacted a two-bedroom apartment and four shops.

Kwara State Fire Service’s spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the incident and revealed that the swift response of the firefighters prevented further damage to property estimated at N13.3 million.

The fire was reported by an anonymous individual living close to the scene.Adekunle stated that the firefighters were able to contain the fire in time.

Among the building’s structures, only the store and kitchen were affected by the blaze.

Investigations revealed that the fire outbreak resulted from a power surge.
