Personnel from the Federal and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and the Nigeria Police were swiftly deployed to the scene to bring the fire under control.

Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, and Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed the incident.

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu noted, “On arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the incident scene, it was discovered that multiple buildings used as shops for the sale of car spare parts were engulfed by fire. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded.”

He added, “Properties and goods worth hundreds of millions of naira were destroyed. The rescue team worked diligently to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings. Law enforcement agencies at the scene implemented crowd control measures to ensure safety.”

By 8 a.m. Saturday, emergency teams were still working to extinguish the remaining fire and had begun a dampening exercise to eliminate residual flames. Efforts by the rescue teams also salvaged some valuable properties from the affected shops.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, as investigations continue.
