A fire outbreak at Munna Albadawi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Borno State has destroyed ten makeshift shelters and claimed the life of a 7-year-old boy, Abubakar Gargar.

The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on March 20, 2025, consuming food, clothing, and personal belongings of camp residents. Zagazola Makama, a security analyst reports.

According to the camp chairman, Babangida Mahmud, despite efforts by the Borno State Fire Service and security agencies to contain the blaze, it resulted in significant losses. Abubakar’s remains were handed over to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites.

Following the disaster, officials from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other humanitarian organizations have arrived to assess the damage and provide support to those affected.
