Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has revoked traditional titles held by himself, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Governor Boni Haruna, and others following the restructuring of emirates and chiefdoms in the state.

Fintiri announced the decision during the coronation of the newly installed Chief of Madagali, stating that all District Heads must now align with the newly created emirates and chiefdoms. He emphasized that titles granted under the old jurisdictions were no longer valid.
The affected emirates and chiefdoms were originally part of the Adamawa and Mubi emirates, where the revoked titles were conferred. With this move, Fintiri relinquishes his title of Sarki Yaki Mubi, Atiku loses Waziri Adamawa, and Haruna forfeits Makama Mubi, alongside others impacted by the changes.
The governor directed traditional councils in the new emirates to propose fresh titles for approval in line with customary laws.
He also noted that the Lamido of Adamawa emirate could submit Atiku’s name and others for reconsideration, but any reappointment would require his approval.
