Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of corps members deployed to the state by pledging to sustain the monthly allowance of N10,000 and a new incentive of N20,000 to be paid at the end of each service year to corps members who serve as teachers.

Fintiri made this announcement during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch B Stream ‘1’ orientation course at the Damare orientation camp in Girei Local Government Area on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of the orientation exercise, urging the corps members to make the most of this “golden opportunity.”

Addressing the corps members, Fintiri encouraged them to embrace their postings, assuring them of the state’s safety and the hospitality of its citizens.

“Adamawa is one of the peaceful states in the country with peace-loving and accommodating citizens,” he said, promising to ensure their security.

Mr. Mohammed Ahmad, the NYSC Adamawa Coordinator, also addressed the corps members, urging them to take the camp activities seriously to ensure a successful service year. He advised them to respect their uniforms and maintain proper dressing, warning that sanctions would be imposed on those who failed to comply.

Ahmad highlighted an environmental initiative where the corps members would plant no fewer than 15,000 trees before the end of the rainy season, contributing to efforts against global warming. He also expressed gratitude to Gov. Fintiri for his ongoing support for the corps members.

Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman, the Chief Judge of the state, administered the oath of allegiance and called on the corps members to serve honestly and faithfully. She urged them to maintain a positive attitude, remain committed to their duties, and avoid vices such as bribery and corruption.

1,023 corps members, comprising 448 females and 575 males, registered to serve in the state and to support the camp’s feeding needs, Gov. Fintiri also donated two cows and 10 bags of rice
