Federal Government has issued a 3-month suspension on Max Air’s domestic flight operations, effective January 31, 2025, following a recent incident at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport where one of its planes suffered a tire burst during landing.

Fortunately, all 53 passengers on board were evacuated safely, and the aircraft was temporarily shut down before the runway was reopened by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) the next morning.
This incident marks the third time in three months that a Max Air plane has been involved in an incident.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into the occurrence, with the support of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
According to NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the cause of the incident can only be determined after the NSIB’s investigation is complete.
As a precautionary measure, the NCAA will conduct a thorough safety and economic audit of Max Air during the suspension period. The audit will assess the airline’s organizational structure, procedures, personnel, and aircraft to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
The NCAA has assured passengers that the suspension is necessary to guarantee their safety and well-being.
While acknowledging the inconvenience this may cause, the regulatory body appeals for patience and understanding as it works to protect passenger rights.
