Abu Ramzy Ibrahim, a prominent Palestinian leader in Nigeria, has been released by the Nigerian government following a month-long detention by security and intelligence agencies.

Former Minister Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) disclosed on X that it was “an honor and privilege” to welcome Ibrahim to his home after his release. He praised the agencies for conducting the investigation with professionalism and courtesy, emphasizing that Ibrahim’s rights were fully respected and that due process of law was followed.

Though a Palestinian national by birth, Ibrahim has lived in Nigeria for 33 years and holds Nigerian citizenship. He attended Obafemi Awolowo University, speaks Hausa and Yoruba fluently, and has led the Palestinian community in Nigeria for decades.

FFK described Ibrahim as “a man of peace, a formidable intellectual, an insightful historian, and a veteran of the Palestinian struggle.” He highlighted Ibrahim’s advocacy against the violence, starvation, and mass killings in Gaza and the West Bank, noting that he has tragically lost over 33 members of his family in the ongoing conflict.

“Abu’s ordeal and courage has inspired us all,” Fani-Kayode said, urging him to continue speaking for the weak, vulnerable, and voiceless while leading the fight for peace and justice in Palestine and beyond. He also commended Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies for resisting foreign pressures and ensuring that citizens can exercise their rights without intimidation.

Abu Ramzy Ibrahim was detained on August 22, 2025. Operatives identifying themselves as members of the Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested him at his residence in Abuja .
