The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

This announcement was made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Saturday.

In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed appreciation for the resilience and hard work of Nigerians, emphasizing that their efforts will not go unnoticed. “The sacrifices made by Nigerian men and women will not be in vain,” he stated.

The Minister also urged citizens to draw inspiration from the nation’s past heroes, reflecting on their contributions as motivation for the country’s future. He stressed that a united Nigeria is essential for achieving the nation’s dreams.

While wishing everyone a happy Independence Day, Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to remain committed to building the nation.
