Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, said on Tuesday that the project was taken over by the federal government following a request from the Kano State Government. The route will cut across the local government areas of Gwale, Kano Municipal, Dala, and Fagge.
Ata explained that the state had already completed 850 metres of the construction, while the federal government will fund the remaining 6.7 kilometres. He added that compensation for affected property owners will be provided by the state.
The minister also commended former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for initiating the project in 2013 and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for releasing the necessary funds. He described the undertaking as a major federal intervention reflecting the government’s commitment to Kano State.
