A former head of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, who was also an aide to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dumped the governor’s party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and joined the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Daily News 24 reports that Mr Dambo, was received into the APC by Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, on Monday in Abuja.

“Today, I welcomed a distinguished personality, Sani Dambo, a top aide to the Kano State Governor, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alhaji Dambo, who served as the Special Adviser on Investment to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, decided to return to the APC from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

His return marks a homecoming, and I am proud to see him pledge his commitment to supporting the APC in Kano and at the national level,” Senator Barau posted on Facebook.

“His words of loyalty and expertise will undoubtedly add value to our collective efforts to transform Nigeria”.

The Deputy Senate President, who represents Kano North Senatorial District also announced the entry of another NNPP member into the APC.

“In the same light, I am delighted to welcome Rabiu Alhassan Durum, another strong political figure from Kabo LGA, to the APC.

“Both men have shown their dedication to progress, and their decision to join us reflects their confidence in our vision for Nigeria,” he wrote.

Recall that Mr Dambo, was appointed as the chairman of the KIRS by Governor Yusuf in June 2023, barely a month after the governor’s Supreme Court victory in the 2023 governorship election legal tussle.

However, in August 2024, the governor removed Mr Dambo from the KIRS and reappointed him as a Special Adviser on Investment.
