Former Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, Caleb Omoniyi Olubolade, has died at the age of 70 after collapsing while playing lawn tennis in Apapa, Lagos, on Sunday evening.

According to family sources, the retired naval officer had driven himself to the tennis court but suddenly slumped during the game. He was immediately rushed to the Obisesan Naval Medical Centre in Apapa, where medical personnel attempted to revive him. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Born on November 30, 1954, Olubolade had recently celebrated his 70th birthday. Throughout his career, he served in several key positions, including as Federal Minister of Police Affairs and Minister of Special Duties.

His death has drawn tributes from colleagues and political associates, who praised his dedication to public service and national development.

The family said funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
