The Attorney‑General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, led the prosecution on a five‑count charge sheet, which includes accusations of advance‑fee fraud and conspiracy.
One of the charges claims that Oduah obtained N2.4 billion from the Federal Ministry of Aviation through Broad Waters Resources by falsely stating that the funds were meant for technical supervision, an act reportedly carried out in January 2014. Another count alleges she fraudulently secured N1.6 billion and an extra N839 million, in violation of Section 8 of the Advance Fee Fraud Act.
Oduah, who was arraigned alongside a co‑defendant, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Justice Hamza Muazu granted her bail on self‑recognisance, directing her to surrender her passport to the court and seek permission before travelling outside Nigeria. She was represented by senior lawyer Onyechi Ikpeazu during the proceedings.
