A python, a crocodile, and a lion cub have been relocated from the residence of former Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, to the Kano Zoo following public concern.

The Managing Director of the Kano Zoo, Sadik Kura Muhammad, confirmed the development during a radio interview in Kano on Sunday, noting that the animals have been safely evacuated.
The relocation followed an incident in which the python escaped from Idris’ home, causing panic among residents in nearby communities, including Daneji, Mandawari, and Kabara.
Following the incident, Idris voluntarily handed over the animals to the zoo authorities. The animals are now being housed at the Kano Zoological Garden where they will be properly managed.
According to the zoo management, Idris has a valid license that permits him to keep wild animals. However, the law only allows individuals to keep certain species, while endangered animals like parrots and vultures are restricted to zoos to support their protection and breeding.
