Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville has told Arsenal players to stop thinking about the Premier League title race.

He said the team should rather focus on winning their next game against Southampton.

The chances of Mikel Arteta’s side winning the Premier League became slimmer on Sunday after their game against West Ham United ended in a 2-2 draw.

The draw against West Ham followed another draw with Liverpool a week earlier.

They have a game with their title rivals, Manchester City later this month which they must win or wave goodbye to the title.

Arsenal will play bottom-table Southampton on Friday night and Neville, a Premier League legend, believes that the Gunners still have a good chance of winning the league – if they follow his advice.

“But today, I think Arsenal just need to make sure they recover for Friday night and take a single game at a time, get seven points in front,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“Do your job against Southampton, be solid, get seven points clear and the Manchester City game at the Etihad will be a once-in-a-lifetime game.”
