The announcement was made by the airline’s Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, on Thursday. He expressed enthusiasm about the resumption and thanked the Nigerian government for its continued partnership and support.
The suspension, which began in 2022, was a result of issues related to fund repatriation that led Emirates to stop issuing visas to Nigerian travelers. The decision to lift the suspension followed a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi last September.
Emirates, known for its extensive network, plans to reconnect Nigerian passengers to Dubai and more than 140 destinations worldwide, restoring access to one of the airline’s most popular routes.
