The prestigious event, known in recent years as the “Khalifa’s Cup,” brought together leading polo players and global figures, including Tunde Folawiyo and children of polo legend Dahiru Manga. Governors Dikko Radda of Katsina and Umar Bago of Niger were also present.
This year’s edition was aimed at raising funds to support classroom construction and education in Northern Nigeria, using sport as a platform for social impact.
A viral highlight of the day was the friendly exchange between Sanusi and Tuchel. The two joked about Arsenal’s Champions League hopes, with Tuchel noting that the club recently signed his former player, Noni Madueke. “Now that he manages England, he sees all English clubs as his,” Sanusi said through an associate.
While Tuchel is best known for leading Chelsea to Champions League victory in 2021, Sanusi remains a respected voice in Islamic finance and public policy, recently earning a PhD from the University of London.
