The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq, has removed Iliya Mantau from his position as the Village Head of Mantau in Baure Local Government Area of Katsina State following serious allegations of involvement in kidnapping and rape.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Emir, who stated that the Daura Emirate will not condone any form of abuse or injustice against its citizens. His decision came after residents of Yarmaulu community held a protest last week, accusing Mantau and others of abducting a woman, Zulaihatu, along with her child. The suspects allegedly demanded a ransom of N20 million before subjecting her to sexual assault.

In his address, the Emir reaffirmed the commitment of the Emirate to protect its people and uphold justice. He called on citizens to report any form of injustice through the proper channels and emphasized that no individual is above the law.

He also cautioned against spreading false information, urging the public to remain lawful and responsible in their conduct.

Iliya Mantau has been officially stripped of his traditional title with immediate effect. The Emir said a new leader will be appointed soon to guide the community with fairness and integrity.
