In a statement released on Saturday night by his Press Secretary, Balarabe Kofar Na’isa, the Emir said the announcement aligns with the directive of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, following confirmed sightings of the new moon in Borno, Daura, and Moru.
The statement noted that after consultations with Islamic scholars, the moon sighting was verified, prompting the directive for Muslims to conclude their fast and prepare for Eid festivities.
The Emir also urged Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation of paying Zakat al-Fitr and prayed for divine acceptance of their worship while wishing for a peaceful celebration.
