Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has petitioned the Police Service Commission (PSC), accusing the Kaduna State Police Commissioner and other senior officers of misconduct.

In the petition dated September 8 and addressed to the PSC Chairman, El-Rufai alleged that the officers engaged in unprofessional conduct, abuse of office, and serial breaches of the Police Act 2020. He urged the commission to conduct a thorough probe into their actions.

The former governor argued that some of the police actions were unconstitutional and unlawful, stressing that his decision to raise the complaint was borne out of a sense of civic duty and concern for the future of policing in Nigeria. He added that accountability within the force is essential to rebuilding public trust.

The development comes after El-Rufai, alongside six members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was invited by the Kaduna State Police Command for questioning over alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement, and causing grievous hurt. Security operatives had earlier sealed the ADC office in Kaduna, reportedly preventing a planned visit by party leaders to sympathize with members who were attacked.

Those invited with El-Rufai include Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed, Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini. The police maintained that the summons was part of ongoing investigations aimed at safeguarding public peace and order in the state.
