Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has declared that ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai holds no political relevance in Kaduna State, dismissing his recent political moves as inconsequential.
Daily News 24 reports that he disclosed this on Monday during an interview on Channels TV, following El-Rufai’s defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sani stated that the APC remains strong at both the federal and state levels, downplaying any impact of El-Rufai’s exit.
“El-Rufai is politically irrelevant. With or without him, APC will win the next election,” he said.
Reacting to the former governor’s series of visits to prominent politicians, including Rauf Aregbesola, Atiku Abubakar, and former president, Muhammadu Buhari, Sani argued that such engagements do not translate to electoral success.
“You do not win elections by visiting people here and there. You win elections from your state. His visitation is nothing to worry about. We in Kaduna State know that his exit is of no political consequence,” Sani stated.
He dismissed El-Rufai’s reason for leaving the APC, arguing that he only gave it because he is no longer involved in the system.
“Whatever El-Rufai says about APC is the same thing he did when he was the governor of Kaduna State. On three occasions, the national body sent him three individuals to reconcile the crises in Kaduna State, and he refused,” Sani added.
Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai resigned from the APC and joined the SDP, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership. Announcing his exit on Facebook on Monday, he accused the APC of sidelining party organs and ignoring internal crises. He urged opposition leaders to unite under the SDP ahead of future elections.
