The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that Eid-el-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, March 30, 2025, following the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.

In his statement, the Sultan congratulated Muslims on successfully completing the Ramadan fast and urged them to uphold the values of patience, piety, and charity beyond the holy month.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar have also confirmed that Eid-el-Fitr will begin on Sunday, March 30, 2025, following the sighting of the moon.
In Nigeria, the Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement and extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah.
