The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the dismissal of two staff members following allegations of corruption.

The Commission’s Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, revealed this during the opening of the 6th Annual Criminal Law Review Conference organized by the Rule of Law Development Foundation in Abuja.

Olukoyede disclosed that the two officials were dismissed two weeks ago. He emphasized that, moving forward, any staff found guilty of wrongdoing would not only face dismissal but also prosecution.

“You can’t be fighting corruption and your hands are dirty. He who comes to equity, your hands must also be clean,” Olukoyede stated, underlining his commitment to maintaining integrity within the organization.

He further explained, “So many other reforms are going on, the issue of our staff and all of that. Just two weeks ago, I caused the dismissal of two staff members. I will not only be dismissing them, I will also be prosecuting them because that is what we prosecute others for.”

Olukoyede also reflected on his own experience, recalling how he was investigated for two years while serving as EFCC Secretary. He emphasized the importance of integrity, especially for legal practitioners, in ensuring the success of the Commission’s anti-corruption efforts.

In his address, he also mentioned a new directive he has issued, stating that no prosecution should include more than a 15-count charge.
