Tijani Babangida, a Former Nigerian winger, has put hopes on the Super Eagles’ ability to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, in an effort to make amendments to their inability not to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

The three-time champions and four-time runners-up, Nigeria will know their group opponents when the draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series is staged at the SuperSport Studio in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday evening.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is expected to kick off from June 23 to July 23. The draw could be held in South Africa.

In an interview with Completesports, Tijani stated that the disappointment of not qualifying for Qatar will spur the team to glory, starting with the qualifying campaigns.

“It’s a big disappointment that the Super Eagles failed to make an appreciable impact at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon and also failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar,” the former Atlanta Olympic gold medalist told Completesports.com.

“However, I am optimistic that such disappointment will only spur the Super Eagles to be more hungry for success. The players will be more determined to make a big statement of intent.”
