As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics continues, Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, is gearing up for the prestigious tournament with two friendly matches against Germany and Puerto Rico next month.

The Sports Ministry announced that D’Tigress will face Germany in the Berlin Basketball Festival on July 19, followed by a clash against Puerto Rico on July 24.

These friendly fixtures are crucial for the team’s preparation, as they aim to make a significant impact at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The women’s basketball tournament, scheduled to take place from July 28 to August 11, 2024, will be the 21st edition of the event at the Summer Olympic Games.

D’Tigress have been drawn in Group B alongside hosts France, Australia, and Canada, and will begin their campaign against Australia on July 29. The preliminary matches will be held at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille, while the final phase will take place at the Accor Arena in Paris.

These friendly matches against Germany and Puerto Rico will provide valuable opportunities for the team to fine-tune their skills, test their strategies, and build momentum ahead of the Olympics.
