The Kaduna Command of the DSS said Sultan was picked up on September 27, 2025, at Layin Dan-Masani in Rigachikun, Igabi Local Government Area, after receiving a complaint of phishing and extortion.
According to the agency, Sultan allegedly created fake accounts with the handles @OZugwai40986 on X (formerly Twitter) and @Zugwai75 on Instagram, which he used to threaten a complainant and demand payments through a cryptocurrency wallet and a Point of Sales (POS) account.
The DSS further alleged that he attempted to lure the complainant to an undisclosed location through deceptive online identities, sparking fears of a kidnap attempt.
Investigators said although Sultan deleted the fake accounts while security operatives were closing in, forensic experts were able to recover them from his phone along with digital footprints, payment trails, and incriminating conversations.
The agency clarified that the arrest was not politically motivated but strictly related to cybercrime, noting that arrangements are underway to charge him in court.
