The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has officially commissioned the Digital Industrial Park in Kano State, describing it as a key step in strengthening Nigeria’s grassroots digital economy.

The facility, which was completed in 2024, had suffered damage during the nationwide protest on August 1, 2024. But with support from IHS Towers, it has now been fully restored and launched for public use.

The commissioning ceremony, held within the park premises, drew attendance from senior government officials, traditional leaders, and major players in the tech industry.

Speaking on behalf of the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo praised the minister for his consistent commitment to the state. He noted that Tijani’s ability to champion digital inclusion through public-private partnerships was bringing lasting development to communities across Nigeria.

As a sign of appreciation, the deputy governor presented Dr. Tijani with a traditional sword and cap, bestowing on him the honorary title of Sarkin Yakin Digitalization, meaning “Commander of Digital Advancement,” in recognition of his role in driving digital transformation in Kano and beyond.

The newly commissioned park is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, job creation, and skills development in Kano and the wider northern region.
