Despite IPOB’s cancellation of the Sit-at-home order, residents of Awka, in Anambra State during the early hours of Friday, stayed away from their places of business, with only a few cars, commercial buses, tricycles seen on the roads.

Many had expected activities to pick up early in the state capital with the Indigenous People of Biafra calling off their one-week stay-at-home order on Thursday but at 9 am, activities were at their lowest.

At the Regina junction along the Onitsha Enugu Road, commuters were seen boarding the few available buses, while few food vendors were seen on the popular Regina Caeli Road doing their business.

Heavily armed police officers were also visible in the area as they paraded the streets and major roads. (Punch)
