This information was obtained from a statement issued by the company on Thursday.

The statement said senior officials and the insurance team promptly visited the accident scene, met with police, and later checked on the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. It added that the move reflects the company’s commitment to the welfare of those affected, with plans to provide Ruth with comprehensive treatment and compensation under its welfare policy.

Ruth, a recent graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, had one leg amputated, with doctors warning the other may also need to be removed.

The Edo State Police confirmed the truck driver, allegedly underage and unlicensed, has been arraigned and pleaded guilty to three of four charges. The case was adjourned to August 21.

The motorcycle rider carrying Ruth during the crash is also in critical condition.
