The decoration ceremony took place on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Police Officers’ Mess in Bompai, Kano, drawing attendance from senior police officers, traditional leaders, and families of the honourees.

Among the beneficiaries was Umar Ahmed Chuso, previously Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, who had earlier been decorated with the rank of Commissioner of Police by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP). Fudaiku Sani Kura, Area Commander for Wudil, was elevated to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Also promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police were Celestine Chika Ugwuddoh, Mansur A. Idris (Officer in Charge of the CP’s Surveillance Team), Mohammed Gwarzo Mani (DPO Filin Hockey Division), Musa Hadi (DPO Minjibir Division), and the DPO of Ja’oji Division.

The breakdown of other promoted ranks includes 119 Inspectors elevated to ASP II, 490 Sergeants promoted to Inspector, 400 Corporals advanced to Sergeant, and five Constables decorated as Corporals.

While addressing the newly promoted officers, CP Bakori described the development as part of IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s resolve to prioritize the welfare of police personnel. He commended the IGP and the Police Service Commission for ensuring regular career progression within the force.

“This ceremony is a celebration of your dedication, but also a reminder of the increased responsibilities your new ranks demand,” CP Bakori said. He thanked the officers’ families for their unwavering support and encouraged the promotees to remain professional and loyal to their duties.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, DCP Fudaiku Sani Kura appreciated the IGP, Police Service Commission, and the Commissioner of Police for their roles in the promotion process. He assured the gathering of their continued commitment to integrity, discipline, and service to the people.

Earlier, CP Bakori also held a lecture session for senior officers including Area Commanders, DPOs, and heads of operational units. He emphasized ethical conduct, discipline, and adherence to the force’s social media policy, urging officers to remain law-abiding and focused on safeguarding lives and property.
