As a result of the gap between women and youth in politics and leadership across the country, Center for Information Technology And Development in partnership with ActionAid has consulted with various sectors of the society to see how to empower youth and women in politics and leadership.
John Otara, CITAD’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, introduced the participants to the content of the discussion.
He explains why CITAD is launching this program in collaboration with Actionaid, in the run-up to the 2023 General Elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Isa Garba, the Center Program Officer, said the initiative was launched to see how different sections of the society can contribute to the empowerment of women and youth in politics and leadership.
8 Local Government Areas (LGAs) have been selected across in and around Kano base on their impact, as well as that of Kano State.
The Participants included members of the Political Parties from the PDP and PRP as well as political Programs presenters at Arewa Radio, Freedom and NGOs from various local government areas where in attendance.
Nura Ma’aji, leader of the PDP Youth (Kwankwasiyya), expressed his happiness and explained some of the reasons for the decrease in the number of youths and women in politics.
For his part, the former PRP Youth Leader described the youths’ as having respect for money and nuts instead of focusing on how to contribute to society.
The program will consult Politicians, Kannywood Actors, Religious Leaders, Traditional Rulers, radio stations and more.
