Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called for peace and unity among residents of the state as Christians celebrate the 2025 Christmas, urging people of different faiths and backgrounds to continue living together in harmony.

The call was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf described Christmas as a season that reflects the values of love, sacrifice, tolerance and compassion, noting that such principles are crucial for peaceful coexistence in a diverse society like Kano State.
He urged the Christian community in the state to use the festive period to promote peace, unity and collective progress, while encouraging all residents, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, to sustain mutual respect and understanding.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens and ensuring an environment where everyone can freely practice their faith without fear or discrimination.
He also appealed to religious leaders to continue preaching tolerance and peaceful coexistence, stressing that unity remains a key pillar for sustainable development in the state.
Governor Yusuf wished Christians a joyful Christmas celebration and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous New Year for all residents of Kano State.
He further advised motorists to strictly observe traffic rules during the festive period and beyond to ensure safety on the roads.
