Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has advised Paris Saint-Germain to prioritise securing the long-term futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe rather than sign Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi.

Wenger said this as PSG defeated Barcelona 4-1 in the Champions League last-16 first-leg tie on Tuesday night at Camp Nou, thanks to three goals from Mbappe and a strike from Moise Kean.

Messi was heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona last summer and the Argentine captain looks set to leave the La Liga giants this summer.

Asked whether PSG should try to sign Messi, Wenger told beIN Sports: “That is another question because Lionel Messi demands huge investment.

“I would say PSG should be more focused on keeping their two best players and invest all the money they have in these two players.

“Mbappe is 22, the best player in the world may be or the future best player in the world. When you have the next two best players in the world, you keep them.”
