Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has elected Professor Haruna Musa as its new Vice Chancellor, securing a clear lead with 853 votes in a closely contested race involving five candidates.

The election, held on Tuesday, placed Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani second with 367 votes, followed by Professor Muhammad Sani Gumel with 364 votes. Professor Adamu Idris Tanko received 161 votes, while Professor Muhammad Bashir Fagge got 18 votes.


The new Vice Chancellor, a seasoned scholar from the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, is widely respected for his research, administrative experience, and leadership within the university system. He has served in various capacities including Dean of Faculty and Director of Academic Planning.
He is expected to lead BUK into a new phase of academic growth and global recognition.
