President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Nigeria after 13 days in London, the United Kingdom.

Buhari arrived in Abuja on Tuesday in a Gulfstream jet at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The president had traveled to the UK on May 3 to attend the coronation of King Charles III.

Buhari was accompanied to the UK by Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation; Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs; Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture; and Babagana Monguno, national security adviser.

The coronation ceremony, which took place on May 6, was attended by leaders and dignitaries from across the world.

The Nigerian president also took part in a summit for presidents and heads of government of Commonwealth countries, which was held on May 5.

Although Buhari’s trip was meant to last five days, Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson, announced that the president would spend an additional week in London before returning to Nigeria.

Adesina said the delay in Buhari’s return was at the “behest” of his dentist.

Meanwhile, the president is expected to hand over power to President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29.
