Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has signed the new law passed by the Kano State House of Assembly, which dissolved the five emirates in the state and restored a single Kano Emirate for the whole state.

Earlier, Kingmakers arrived at the Kano State Government House on Thursday evening to formalise the reinstatement of dethroned 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, as the new Emir of Kano.

Daily News 24 reports that Governor Yusuf signed the bill at the Government House, Kano on Thursday evening hours after the Kano Assembly unanimously passed the bill.

Recall that the state’s Assembly on Thursday afternoon had dissolved the five emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Kano thereby removing the emirs representing the institutions from their stools.
