The head coach of the Ghanaian national team, Otto Addo, expressed his belief that his team should have received a better outcome in their recent friendly match against their long-standing rivals, Nigeria.

In Marrakech on Friday night, the four-time African champions suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Super Eagles.

Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman scored goals for the Super Eagles during the match.

Ghana’s sole goal of the match was netted by Captain Jordan Ayew.

Addo insisted that his team should have secured at least a draw from the match.

“I don’t like to look too much about the positives because we lost. But I think we were a bit unlucky in the way we conceded the first goal as the ball hit the hand but like I said we were unlucky,” Addo was quoted by the official website of the Ghana Football Association.

In the first half, they had the advantage in terms of opportunities, but we significantly improved in the second half. The progress we made in the second half, despite being down to 10 men, was quite impressive.

“We controlled them; we were a bit unlucky with the finishing. I think what killed us was their second goal because we were close to actually equalising, but in all, a draw would have been deserved.

Like I said, we lost and we have to improve and move on.”
