Dr. Shase’et Sipak, the state’s Chief Veterinary Officer, confirmed that the outbreak occurred in Bassa Local Government Area. The National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) in Jos verified the disease after testing samples from the affected farm.
According to Dr. Sipak, the farm recorded a 100% morbidity rate, with over 280 birds succumbing to the virus before officials intervened. To curb further spread, the remaining birds were culled, and the facility was placed under quarantine.
He advised poultry farmers across the state to implement strict biosecurity measures to safeguard their livestock from potential infections
