The Bauchi State government has approved the decision of the Bauchi Emirate Council to postpone the 2025 Durbar Festival, a key event marking the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Mukhtar Gidado, media aide to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, announced the development in a statement on Friday, noting that the Emirate Council made the decision without consulting the state government.
The Durbar Festival is a significant cultural event in Bauchi, attracting residents, visitors, and tourists. It serves as a symbol of unity and tradition while also contributing to the state’s economic and social activities.
Despite the government’s prior preparations for security and logistics, Governor Mohammed granted approval for the festival’s postponement. He expressed regret over the lack of prior consultation but reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with the Emirate Council to uphold Bauchi’s traditions.
The state government apologized for any inconvenience caused by the sudden postponement and assured that measures would be put in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Governor Mohammed also extended his Sallah greetings to the Emir of Bauchi, the Emirate Council, and the people of the state, wishing them a peaceful celebration.
