According to the statement, the incident occurred on September 21, 2025, when Nasiru reportedly tied the boy with a heavy rope and flogged him with a stick and thick cable. The assault left the child with multiple injuries on his hands and legs.

The matter was reported to the police, prompting the Divisional Police Officer in Darazo to lead a team that apprehended the suspect. The victim was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Darazo, where he received medical treatment.

During interrogation, Nasiru admitted to tying up the boy, claiming it was to prevent him from running away before his parents arrived. However, the child maintained that he had been subjected to severe confinement and beating over an extended period.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police has since directed that the case be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation. Police further disclosed that the suspect will be profiled and charged in court upon completion of investigations.
